DEVELOPMENT 2

the distance between
my apartment
and the one across the park
is so wide
i can only see the shapes
of the bodies of my neighbors
through their windows
but close enough
i can see the expressions
of the people on their tv

DEVELOPMENT 3

i know people who were happy
the drought burned up
all those riverbanks--
more space to build up on,
to hurtle towards something
lost in the sky,
pretending the moon is all white
when we know up close
it's dirt brown as the earth
